The moose are missing. Nobody has seen them. The hike to Sandy Stream Pond is still a great hike for me. Half a mile, and a good resting spot when I get there makes it a hike I can manage as long as I take a day or two off between hikes. The pond outfall is really pretty.
The other hike I found is a short portion of the Appalachian Trail from the road, half a mile in to Elbow Pond.
One characteristic of this area is that there are many areas that are boggy or wet. One such was overgrown with moss alongside the AT.
I wish I could hike more. This is hiking heaven.
